Types of Mesothelioma
There are several types of mesothelioma, which are classified based on their location in the body. The most common types include:
- Pleural Mesothelioma: This form affects the lining of the lungs (pleura) and accounts for approximately 75% of all mesothelioma cases.
- Peritoneal Mesothelioma: This type affects the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) and accounts for around 20% of cases.
- Pericardial Mesothelioma: Rarely occurring, this type affects the lining of the heart (pericardium).
- Testicular Mesothelioma: This is the rarest form and impacts the lining of the testicles.
